Custom fields and item types
Secrets doesn't support custom fields or custom item types. This is a conscious design decision: keeping the available item types focused helps Secrets stay simple and easy to use.
Custom Fields
The notes field inside each item supports Markdown, so you can use it to add and neatly format information that doesn't fit in the built-in fields. You can also use Secrets' special Markdown syntax to conceal sensitive values, just like a password.
See Annotating your items for examples and the supported Markdown syntax. The article also links to a video that discusses this exact scenario.
Some Login items don't need a username. For Wi-Fi passwords, ZIP file passwords, and similar items, simply leave the username field empty and it won't be displayed.
Custom Types
When none of the built-in item types is a good fit, create a Note item. Notes also support Markdown, giving you the flexibility to structure and format the information clearly.
For example, you can store identities and documents such as passports and driver's licenses in Note items, with clearly formatted fields for the document number, expiration date, nationality, and any other details you need.
Finally, use tags to effectively create your own item types. Tagging these Notes with names such as Passport, Driver's License, or Identity makes it easy to search for and find every item of that type. See Organizing your items to learn how to create and manage tags.
